Sumner High School yearbook
This 1922 edition of the Sumner High School yearbook is the earliest in the library’s collection. In addition to the usual yearbook content, this title also includes a list of every Sumner graduate from 1885 to 1921. Public high school yearbooks are a wildly popular part of the Missouri Historical Society’s library collection, and Sumner yearbooks are no exception, given the school’s historical significance as the oldest Black high school west of the Mississippi River and its distinguished alumni like Dick Gregory, Margaret Bush Wilson, and Tina Turner.
