“Bearemy” from Build-A-Bear Workshop
Build-A-Bear Workshop was founded by St. Louisan Maxine Clark, who was inspired by a shopping trip with a friend’s child. Not finding the stuffed animal she wanted, the child said they should make one themselves. The first store opened at the Saint Louis Galleria mall in 1997. Customers can assemble and customize their teddy bear or other stuffed animal with clothes and accessories. They also receive a birth certificate, such as this one for “Bearemy,” the retailer’s signature bear.
