Route 66 travelers needed places to stay, so new motels and campgrounds sprang up along the way. This postcard from the early 1950s advertises the New Motel St. Louis. Text on the back of the postcard reads, “When you travel, you’ll be proud to say—‘I stopped at the new MOTEL ST. LOUIS’ . . . located on Highway 66 & 67, just across from St. Louis Municipal Airport. Ultra-modern rooms—Air-conditioned for your comfort—Television for your pleasure.”
