Coral Court Preservation Society T-shirt
The Coral Court Motel was a Route 66 motel constructed in Marlborough, Missouri, in 1941 and designated on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It expanded to 77 rooms that were rented by the day or by the hour. Owner John Carr said the hourly rates were a courtesy for truck drivers, but many believed they catered more to the clandestine meetings for which the motel became famous. The motel began a quick decline after Route 66 was bypassed by Interstate 44. Despite strong local efforts by the Coral Court Preservation Society, it was demolished in 1995.
