Gateway Boating Club burgee
The Gateway Boating Club (originally named the St. Louis Outboard Club) was founded in 1955 by Arthur Kennedy Jr., a longtime champion Black boat racer, along with William R. Allen and Edward S. Livingston Jr. At the time, the three founders were the only members. By the end of the next year, three more members had joined the club, and in 1965 it was incorporated as the Gateway Boating Club. The club continued to attract Black boating enthusiasts and remains active today.
