Bharatanatyam dance ensemble

St. Louis is a city filled with people from across the globe, who often bring traditions from their home countries and pass them on to their American-born children. Dance connects people to their heritage, and it’s an art form that can be shared with others. This ensemble was worn by a young Indian American woman who began taking lessons at age four in Bharatanatyam, an ancient form of Indian dance. She trained at Dances of India, a St. Louis studio founded in 1976 by Dr. Bhartur and Asha Prem.
